What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files a website or service stores on your device. We also use related technologies that perform similar functions: web beacons and pixels (tiny images or scripts that report a page view or ad view), local storage and session storage (browser storage keyed to a site), software development kits, and mobile advertising identifiers provided by device operating systems. In this policy "cookies" covers all of these.

Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies keep the website working: load balancing, security and bot protection, and remembering your consent choices. These do not require consent. Functional cookies remember non-essential preferences so repeat visits work the way you left them. Analytics cookies help us understand how the site is used — pages visited, referrers, approximate device type — so we can improve content and performance. Advertising cookies are set within our ad tags and platform: they store identifiers used to select, cap, measure and attribute advertising in the unified auction.

Cookies we set
On this website we use a small set of first-party items: a session/load-balancing cookie that expires when your browsing session ends; a consent-state record stored for up to 12 months so we do not ask again; and security tokens set by our protection providers that last from the session up to 12 months. Within advertising inventory, identifiers set by or for WireAds typically last up to 13 months and are refreshed only if you revisit an enabled property and consent allows.

Third-party cookies
Some pages and processes set third-party items: our contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which sets functional security cookies; our email provider may set items that tell us whether a newsletter was opened and links were clicked; and where a publisher enables WireAds on their inventory, vetted demand and measurement partners may set or read advertising identifiers under their own policies and, where applicable, the consent signals transmitted with the bid request. We do not control third-party cookies; to exercise rights over them, use the partners' disclosures and the industry opt-out tools listed below.

Purposes in advertising
Within the auction, cookies and identifiers are used to: decide which bid requests an ad unit makes and which buyers see it; cap how often the same person sees a creative; measure viewability, clicks and conversions; detect invalid traffic and fraud; build aggregated performance reporting for publishers and advertisers; and, where consent permits, support interest-based selection of advertising. Where signals are unavailable, outcomes may be estimated using privacy-preserving modelling rather than identifiers.

How long cookies last
Cookie lifetimes are capped by design. Session items disappear when you close your browser. Persistent items generally last no longer than 13 months from the last visit, and consent records up to 12 months. We review lifetimes periodically and shorten them where the purpose allows.

Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings — all major browsers let you clear existing cookies, block third-party cookies and prevent first-party cookies from being set. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of this website. Blocking advertising cookies does not remove ads; it makes them less relevant and may reduce estimated publisher revenue. For industry opt-outs, use the DAA WebChoices tool, the NAI opt-out and, in Europe, Your Online Choices (EDAA); on mobile, enable "limit ad tracking" or delete the advertising ID in your device settings. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of sale or sharing for the cookies we control.

Consent
Where the law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we ask before setting them and record your choices. On publisher inventory in the EEA and UK, consent is typically collected by the publisher's consent management platform supporting the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, and the resulting signals travel with the bid request so every participant can honour them. You can change or withdraw consent at any time via the publisher's privacy settings; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.
